Moving and hiding

Bodies can be moved by dragging or by exact coordinates, hidden while you work on something else, and locked against accidental changes.

Moving with the gizmo

When a single body is selected, the transform gizmo appears on it with an arrow for each axis.

  • Drag an arrow to move the body along that axis. A readout shows the distance in your working units.
  • The gizmo's bar over the viewport also lets you choose the axis and type an exact Distance, measured from where the body was when the edit began.
  • Reset puts the body back where the edit started. Cancel, or Esc during a drag, abandons the move.

If you prefer not to see the gizmo, turn off Show the transform gizmo in App Settings ▸ Display.

Moving by coordinates

Select the body and type its X, Y and Z values in the Position section of the Parameters inspector. Each field accepts arithmetic and units like any other. See Numbers and units.

Placing on the build plate

Model ▸ Place on Build Plate, or On Plate in the inspector, lowers the selected body so that its lowest point sits on the plate.

Hiding and showing

Select one or more bodies and choose Model ▸ Hide or Show (⇧⌘H). Hidden bodies stay in the project but are not drawn, not measured and never exported.

Locking

Lock in the tool rail, or Model ▸ Lock (⌘L), protects the selected bodies. A locked body stays visible and is still exported, but it cannot be changed until you unlock it with the same button or command.

Duplicating, renaming and deleting

ActionHow
DuplicateModel ▸ Duplicate (⌘D), or right-click the body in the list
RenameRight-click the body in the list and choose Rename…

Moving, duplicating, renaming and deleting can all be undone with ⌘Z.
