Navigating the viewport
Orbit, pan and zoom with the mouse or trackpad. Selecting and orbiting are told apart by intent rather than a modifier: a press that ends without travelling selects, and a press that travels orbits.
Mouse and trackpad
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Orbit | Drag with the left button |
| Pan | ⇧-drag, or drag with the right button |
| Zoom | Scroll, or pinch on a trackpad |
| Select | Click without moving |
| Add to selection | ⇧-click |
| Clear the selection | Click empty space |
If scrolling zooms the opposite way to what you expect, turn on Reverse zoom direction in App Settings ▸ Navigation.
Standard views
The buttons at the right of the viewport, and the same commands in the View menu:
| View | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Fit | ⌘0 |
| Isometric | ⌘7 |
| Top | ⌘8 |
| Front | ⌘9 |
| Right | View menu or viewport button |
| Reset View | View menu or viewport button |
Fit frames everything visible. Reset View returns to the starting camera.
Orientation widget
The small axis widget shows which way X, Y and Z point. Click an axis to look straight along it. You can hide it with Show the orientation widget in App Settings ▸ Display.
Navigating inside a sketch
While a sketch is open, dragging draws. Turn on Navigate in the sketch bar when you want a drag to move the camera instead, and turn it off again to carry on drawing. Scrolling and pinching zoom in either case.
Navigation hints
Short reminders of these controls can be shown over the canvas. Turn them on or off with Show navigation hints over the canvas in App Settings ▸ Navigation.
